Preston Grammar School Association

Newsletters and other publications

The Hoghtonian

was the School magazine, produced by the pupils with no help from, or impact on, the staff or School resources (by order of the Headmaster). The first issue came out in ??????? and the last in ??????? Of the two known sets believed to be complete one is held in the reference section of the Harris Library in Preston. This one is available to view during normal Library hours. The other is held in Lancashire Archive (formerly the Lancashire Record Office) in Preston and is available to view by appointment.

Association magazines

Ignoring the School's demise, the Association began to issue Newsletters, the original editor being Keith Nightingale, beginning in ???????????????? The tradition has continued to the present day, albeit with a few humps and bumps along the way, editions having been produced by Charlie Billington and David Swindlehurst among others.

In more recent times, starting in 2014, a series of newsletters has been issued with the title of "The New Hoghtonian". These have been published in both hard copy and electronically, to ensure that every Member received a copy. It is intended that, because of the ever-increasing costs of paper and postage, future Newsletters will only be provided in hard-copy form to those Members without web access. The majority will receive the electronic version.
